Origin Workshop

Alexander Dunn and Matthew Jarman are respectively the eyes and ears of Origin Workshop, a creative studio based in London. They have had a long relationship with the 808 having met whilst working with You Know Films as Director and Co-producer during the making of '808' The Movie, the first feature film to be released on Apple Music.

During the making of the film, they often debated what the original advert would have looked like had one been made. A plan was hatched at the SXSW world premiere of the film and upon their return they began working on the 'Original' Roland TR-808 Advert. The goal was to create a video designed to simultaneously pay homage to this great machine whilst seeing how authentically they could recreate the vintage graphics of the Scanimate, another analogue machine that revolutionised motion graphics in the 80's.

The video was quietly released on August 8th 2016 as a piece of found footage, discovered by a retired ad exec called Karl Charles (Matt and Alex's middle names). Within 24 hours it had been viewed 500k times across social channels and the music press, sparking the debate: was this the real deal or was it a fake.

Now sitting just shy of 1m views, the debate continues, much to Matt and Alex's delight...

Melvin Brewing

Melvin Brewing was born in the back of a Thai restaurant in 2009, when owner Jeremy Tofte decided to bring beers from the future to Jackson, WY. What began as a 30-gallon brew system grew into a 3-barrel system, which produced multiple award-winning beers Melvin IPA, 2x4 Double IPA, and Ch-Ch-Ch-Cherry Bomb, served alongside Asian street food, kung fu movies and old school hip hop. After winning Small Brewpub of the Year at GABF 2015, Melvin Brewing opened a 30-barrel production facility in Alpine, WY, and went on to win Brewing Group of the Year at GABF 2017. Embracing the chaos and riding the wave, Melvin Brewing is now ready to take its world class beers on a worldwide tour, because if your beer is not madness, it's not beer. For the low-down visit

Mondo Brewing Company

Mondo BC was established in 2014 by Todd Matteson and Thomas Palmer. They are brewers. They make beer. They make a lot of different types of beer because there's lots of different types of beers to be made. Mondo is named after all those beers made and yet to be made from all those cultures from all those countries from all those worlds.

Weighing in at 11 employees and two interns soaking wet, Mondo Brewing Company hails from Battersea in Southwest London. Started by two American brewers from opposite coasts (one from the East Coast state of Connecticut, the other from the West Coast of the Mississippi River state of Missouri), Mondo specialises in bringing the beat back and giving the drummer some.

The Mondo Brewing Company Tap House is located immediately in front of the brewery and is open from 5-11pm Wednesday to Friday and 2-10pm Saturday. Tours and tastings available through our website

DevilCraft Logo.png

The story of DevilCraft began in 2008 when beer enthusiasts John Chambers and Jason Koehler became inspired by the many success stories of the craft beer movement in the United States. They were soon joined by Mike Grant, and the three of them set out to form their own beer company. The concept began with the idea to make a commercial brewery for outside sales, but soon evolved into more of a ‘brewpub’ concept, where beers are brewed in-house and paired with food in a restaurant setting.

After an exhaustive search for a suitable location and several years of planning, the partners found the first location in Kanda and DevilCraft was formed. The plan to brew was waylaid as pub demands outstripped space, so DC Hamamatsucho was opened in summer of 2013 with 21 craft taps with the plan to move the initial brewery to there. Early success there delayed the brewery opening again, but in early 2014 a great location to brew in an industrial neighborhood in Shinagawa was found and the licensing process was resumed. A mere 4 years after opening their doors, they received their license to brew in September 2015! Now brewing their own DevilCraft beers at the Tokyo brewery location near Oimachi, DevilCraft now serves their small-batch craft beers at their 3 Tokyo pub locations: Kanda, Hamamatsucho, and Gotanda, as well as at beer festivals around Japan and on occasion, international beer festivals.
